Calories, green tea: Can green tea make you lose weight?

People have looked for many years for ways to make them easier and more natural to help with weight loss. Recently, the market is becoming more »green« with products that promise just that. One of the remedies that is really good with loosing calories is green tea. Green tea is known in Asia for centuries. Unlike black teas, resulting from the fermentation of tea leaves are unfermented green teas. This leaves more of the polyphenols in tea. In another study, one group of men made tea that was enriched with polyphenols, another group drank tea without tea polyphenols. They found out that men who drank tea with polyphenols, lost more weight than men from the other group.

First studies are showing that green tea helps reducing calories and in weight loss. But this is not the magic »substance« with which to lose weight without proper expercise and regulated diet. If you enjoy drinking tea and watch on your weight and diet, than a green tea can help you to speed up your digesion, which undoubtedly has the additional effect on the diet. Keep also in mind that green tea contains caffeine, and that it is not advisable to drink green tea too often. Since green tea polyphenols are biologically active they can also have effect if you are taking other medicaments. Therefore, people that are taking medicine should consult with their doctor before they start to drink green tea. Researches on the effects of green tea helping with calories are continuing and we can expect that we will get more informations and more clarity out of it. Until then, enjoy a cup of green tea, but slowly and in moderation. Drinking green tea is very helpfull to use while dieting and also with regular exercise.
